WAITING AREA

I arrived in Kenya about 4 weeks ago to prepare for a 7 member work team to arrive two weeks later for a stay of about two weeks. The major project was to paint the inside of Phase 1 of the Lions' Maternal Child Hospital at Ngoswani. The team  did much filling of cracks, sanding, cleaning walls, applying primer paint and finishing coats of paint..up to  3 and 4 layers of paint on some walls.
They also cleaned much medical equipment and furniture and moving  into the proper rooms. It is beginning to look like  a hospital!

The work team was special as it consisted of my youngest son, Michael, his wife Wendy and their five children. All were kept very busy. Michael began his life in Kenya when he was 3 years old when his late mother, Ann, a registered nurse and I began working at Tenwek Hospital.Michael attended Rift Valley Academy for 8 years and graduated from RVA in 1994. The family had the opportunity to visit RVA on their return trip to Nairobi.

EXAM ROOM 2

Michael met classmates and old friends during Alumni day at RVA. He also visited with his dorm parents, with whom he lived with for 4 or 5 years while attending boarding school.During his 14 days in Kenya, Micheal and his family spend a half day at Tenwek Hospital where he called home for his first 13 years in Kenya.

Tenwek Hospital has grown enormously, and is a referral hospital with Resident Training Programs in surgery and family medicine. Dr. Alex Baraza is presently in the Internship program at Tenwek Hospital. The work group met some of the missionaries who were at Tenwek Hospital in the early 90's and  Michael had the pleasure of visiting with Dr. Alex while eating dinner.
